Believe & Think is an independent publisher of books that ask something of the reader.
We are small on purpose. We publish few titles, and we choose them slowly, because a book that is worth a year of someone's thinking deserves more than a season of our attention. We would rather release one book that changes how a reader prays than ten that are merely competent.
What we publish
Our list sits at the meeting point of theology, mission and the examined Christian life. We look for manuscripts that are serious about Scripture and honest about the Church — books that can be read alone at a kitchen table and then argued over in a small group on a Tuesday night. Spirituality, non-fiction, biography, philosophy: the category matters less to us than whether the book is true, and whether it costs the author something to have written it.
We are especially interested in writing that takes the unreached world seriously, and in authors whose theology was formed somewhere other than the places that usually publish theology.
How we work
Every title we take on goes through a full editorial review — biblical citations verified against their sources, claims checked, bibliography confirmed — before it goes to typesetting. We think that kind of care is the least a reader is owed.
We publish in English, and our sister platform Crer e Pensar serves Portuguese-speaking readers and church leaders.
Who we are
Believe & Think was founded by Dr. Eliézer Magalhães, a Brazilian theologian and missiologist. He holds a PhD from the South African Theological Seminary, teaches at FABAPAR, and is the founder and president of The Task. He serves as Church Planting Coordinator for Atlantic Canada and as a consultant on church planting and innovation. Before entering full-time ministry he spent over a decade in technology as a systems analyst and cybersecurity specialist. He lives in Dieppe, New Brunswick, Canada.
